Getting Ready for Santa - Christmas Cookies

It’s that time of year again and that means a crazy Sunday in our house to get set up for Christmas.
We start the day with doing the Liverpool Santa dash (8000 Santas running the streets of Liverpool), then a rush back home to get the Christmas tree up before taking the 3 YO to see Father Christmas in our local garden center.
If all that was not enough we then have to cook a batch of our Christmas cookies to make sure the recipe is just right for Santa on Christmas Eve. This recipe is as indulgent as it gets (it is Christmas after all), packed full of dark chocolate chips and whole walnut pieces. This is a family favourate and in fact my wife ate 4 in a row as she could not resist them!!!
90g soft butter
110g sugar
300g dark chocolate chips
100g walnut halves
200g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
Mix the sugar, flour, baking powder and butter together in a mixing bowl until the mixture become a golden sandy colour.
Add in the chocolate chips, walnuts and eggs and mix until everything has combined.
Take a hand full of the mixture, slightly smaller than a golf ball, and flatten slightly between your hands. Place on a baking tray and bake at 150c for 20 minuets. Once cooked allow to cool on a cooling rack. This recipe should make a bakers dozen of large cookies.
When cooled leave them out with a large glass of cold milk on Christmas eve and if you have been good then Santa is sure to leave you something nice.
