Dark chocolate and banana bread - the perfect Sunday morning treat

Sunday mornings in our house means time for a family treat for breakfast, be it American style pancakes (http://stiggyw.tumblr.com/post/135587712272/a-breakfast-treat-american-style-pancakes-i) or raspberry and banana smoothies (http://stiggyw.tumblr.com/post/136837152082/new-year-new-you-raspberry-and-banana-breakfast). This recipe is one that we love to make together first thing on a Sunday morning. What could be better to a 3 yo than mushing the bananas between his fingers and smashing dark chocolate with a rolling pin? One thing, taking them straight out of the oven and eating them whilst they are still warm and the chocolate inside still gooey, and if we are feeling a little extravagant even smothering on some nutella.

250g self raising flour

150g caster sugar

100g melted butter

2 eggs

250g peeled over ripe banana

100g dark chocolate

100g walnut pieces

First mush the bananas up in a bowl with the back of a fork (or a 3 yo fingers) add in the flour, sugar, eggs and melted butter and mix until combined then fold in the nuts and broken up chocolate. Place the mixture in a standard bread tin (I used small individual) and bake in a pre heated oven at 180c for 45 - 50 minuets (if you do small ones bake for 20 minuets).
