Houmous - the superfood staple

This simple recipe will fill your fridge with all the goodness of any superfood, made with chickpeas that are high in healthy proteins and fiber. Tahini (sesame paste) that is a great source of magnesium, potassium and iron. Garlic, which has been proven to reduce blood pressure amongst many of it’s benefits. Extra virgin olive oil that has now been proven to have anti-inflammatory benefit that can help reduce the risks of heart disease. And lets face it houmous tastes great as well. This recipe can be knocked up in minutes and can be used as a dairy-free alternative to mayo or spread for your sandwiches as well as a great tasting dip.

1 400g tin of chickpeas in water

3 cloves of garlic

1 tblsp of tahini

½ tsp cumin

½ tsp paprika 

The juice of half a lemon

75ml extra virgin olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

All you have to do is put all you ingredients in a food processor and blitz it up until its as smooth as you like it.
